Indians Win Exciting Doubleheader over Batesburg-Leesville

Excitement was already in the air as perrenial 2A soccer power Batesburg-Leesville rolled into Gilbert and things became even more exciting as the JV Indians found the goal with a little over 5 minutes remaining to beat the JV Panthers 1-0 and run their winning streak to 6 games to start the season. Just 15 minutes of playing time after the JV Indians notched their game winner the varsity Indians found the back of the net 10 minutes into their varsity match with the defending 2A State  Champs and current 2nd ranked Batesburg-Leesville. That 1-0 lead left a buzz in the air throughout an amazing home crowd for the remainder of the evening as the Varsity Indians added a second goal with just minutes remaining in the first half, then found the net a third time with 12 minutes to play. As exciting as it was the Indians will be back at work today preparing for very important Region III AA matches on Thursday at Strom Thurmond and Friday at Gilbert vs. Columbia High School.
